bits and pieces

It's hard to believe how quickly time is passing since we arrived here. I looked at the calendar earlier and realized it's already the last day of March! Fortunately it is Saturday, a day for laziness and staying (mostly) indoors, catching up with my paint brushes and keyboard. I felt my blog layout and design was a bit overwhelming while also restricting. I have re-designed, simply but smoothly, most importantly with room for larger images, because I feel my photos have been less-than-impressive when sized down (not that they are too great anyways.) I also want to stop editing them quite as much, mainly because I don't have the time to adjust every single image, especially since my lack of photoshop (and related skills) limits what I can do to them. I do wish to have beautiful eye catching images like I see on many of the lovely blogs I read, but I don't know how to achieve that with the camera and programs I have access to. Any help or advice will gladly be heard :)

losing the human parts

Tremble the sky until it shatters us into something real, tremble my heart until the waves break Tremble my limbs until they can finally be still again, until I can't even hold language, words falling from my mouth as if I forgot that I could say things on purpose and mean them. Unhinge my jaw until my teeth stop shaking, until my tongue belongs to me again. I can taste blood. Whose is it? Whose is it? Amertie

the good, the bad, and the embarrassing

Our first week and a half on the farm have not been uneventful by any means. In fact, tonight on the ride home I said to the Universe (or more accurately Jonathan, since that's who heard me) "thanks for all the tests you've been throwing at us lately, but that's enough for now, please?" We expected some hard times and lots of hard work, but we weren't ready for random mishaps and accidents that would set us back so soon in the change. Bad things that have happened since we arrived: Jonathan gets a tick and the head is stuck in his back. It's been a week now and I think it's all worked out, but I was really scared. We get locked out of the Jeep, and it's $120 for a locksmith to come unlock it. We have snatched Zaphod (our kitty) off of upstairs windowsills about five times. I smacked myself in the forehead with a knife (apparently I missed the day in class when they tought you basic knife-holding skills.) It was just a little cut, mainly my ego

moving to the country (sort of)

Sorry for the absence fine followers, what a busy few weeks it has been. We are moved and settled into our new home on the farm, enjoying the work and scenery, as well as the company of our hosts, Daniel and Emily, and our fellow intern and roommate, Alex. Our last week at home was busy with packing and spending as much time as possible with our dear friends and families. We miss them terribly already. And now, what I know you're all waiting for- pictures! Here's the (many many) highlights of our last week at home in the 540 and our first week here in the 804 (that's right, I'm speaking in area codes- sue me.) Part 1: You say goodbye... Penny threw us a very nice going away party before we left. Good times with friends and family all gathered together to say goodbye. We also had dinner with my family on the mountain, where Amy and I painted roses an
