Here's to a new chapter, a new job, new theme, new everything! Last weekend we went to see our favorite local band, Jackal Tickets , play their first show in months. The bar was crowded, the air thick with smoke, and the music loud. It was such an amazing surprise to hear that they wrote a song for us! They have started calling us "The Luna Acres Crew" after my series on local music back in the spring. It is an honor for us, though I feel a little bad for my sister and bestie, since they were thrown in under our name. I wanted to change up the page in honor of all the new changes in our life (including my new job as of this week!) and if you check out the sidebar you'll see that I have them included, because they will be in lots of posts on here! They are my best friends, and we are lucky to have a group so amazing! So this is for you guys- Amy, Savannah, Justin, Deacon, and of course Jonathan. The Luna Acres Crew. I hope I can make all of you a bigger part ...

Another one of our favorite local bands is HANOI JANE . We always dance like fools.  Drew - Guitar, Backing Vocals - Top left and bottom right Hall - Bass - Bottom left Matt O - Drums - Top right     Gum - Guitar and Vocals Until next time, Angela Kelly

The Jackal Tickets are a Roanoke band we have been supporting and rocking out too for years now. Their punk rock ska mix is the perfect balance for a great dance show, we always have so much fun. I mentioned in a past post that Troy is also special to me and my sister personally, because he was in uniform folding the flag and presenting it to my grandmother at my pawpaw's funeral, which meant so much to my family. Troy- Bass/Vocals - Bottom Right Scott Late- Guitar/Vocals - Top Right Willett- Drums - Top Left Reynolds- Trombone/Vocals - Bottom Left Mike- Saxophone/Vocals - Bottom Left They had a full house at Martin's downtown Saturday night for this show. The dance floor, bar, and tables were all full. The other bands, Fun Size and Monster Atlantic tore up the stage as well, but unfortunately we didn't catch them in the midst of our crazy show hopping! Maybe next time, guys!   We had a g...

The last local band we saw on Saturday night was After Action Review,  from the star city of course, and they rocked our socks off.   Mike on drums and vocals (side note, he was in the band back at my very first shows)   above left is Justin on guitar below is Steven  rocking the mic  I have to say, of all the bands of the evening, they had the crowd going with the best energy,  despite the bouncers trying at every turn to simmer down the action.  From the start of the show they announced, "no dancing!"  The room sounded with laughter and jeers, jokes about Footloose, and other fun filled rebellion.    we have TC on guitar and vocals on the left to the right is Robbo on bass Four times during their set the bouncer came through the crowd  to st...

the girls before the show We don't go out much, but when we do, it's usually to support local music. When I started gathering this post together, I realized that I really need to start taking photos at the shows . How lame am I? Sharing all this great local music with you, at cool friendly venues, and then just showing you pictures of us getting dressed up? I suck! Well, I have been thinking about it quite a bit, and you can expect to see more posts about local music in the future, more photos of the bands and venues, if I get lucky maybe even some interviews and behind the scenes on some of our local rock stars. We have so much fun going out, but we don't drink much and we are all in great relationships, so most of the usual "party activities" aren't really our thing. Checking out local bands is a great way to get out some pent-up energy and just have some fun. There's always people dancing and being themselves, from punks to hippies to jocks and mo...
