Trilli didn't want to pose for a picture.  Yesterday morning we woke up to a dusting of snow covering the ground.  Just a little bit, light and beautiful.  Our pack has an extra member for awhile,  my grandmother's Chihuahua Baby.  She is in the hospital after a fall left her bruised and sore,  with underlying problems yet to be determined.  We love her so very much and are sending all our good thoughts  and prayers that she recovers quickly.  Her little Baby is in good hands though, we just love having her.  Baby in her little jacket :)  Trilli is obviously jealous, but adjusting to her presence.  The cats seem disinterested, being twice her size at least!  I've never cared for small dogs much, but she is just such a sweetheart.  Everyone please keep my granny in your thoughts this week!  Until next time, Angela Kelly the pack

Zae likes our new quilt "Just because something needs to be said, doesn't necessarily mean that it needs to be heard." Trilli was very tuckered out after all the Christmas excitement (also, new couch cover for Christmas) Christmas was wonderful but also very challenging, and I wrote about it but I'm not sure that it needs to be shared. There are words running through my veins that need to spill out, but I am so hesitant to share too much information.. too much truth about my self, my past, my scars. At the same time, there's so much past inside my present ( feist ). Perhaps another day. plant explosion There was delicious food. Gifts. Family. Friends. It was truly a lovely day, until my grandmother's blood pressure dropped causing her to drift in and out of consciousness. Many tears were shed and while my mom and big sis went to the hospital with her the rest of us (my little sister, the guys, and my nieces and nephew) hugged and shared ...

baby bunnies more babies storm hangin out It was a beautiful early spring weekend!  We got the tiller up and running, pulled the wheels off which need to be replaced.  The front yard has been cleaned of the trash, sticks,  and graveyard of deer bones which always seem to accumulate over the winter.  Loaded the back porch with firewood.  Spent some time enjoying the animals.  The baby bunnies are getting their fur and opening their eyes.  We also made time this weekend to hang out with friends (Amy and Savannah, my favorites, always)  as well as family, Jonathan's mom Penny,  plus both of my grandmothers, which was a special treat for me.  The time always goes by too fast, back to work tomorrow,  but the days are growing longer and longer,  giving us time in the evening to enjoy our little paradise.  Spring is here, everyone! the pretty girls ducky duck ducks the b...

Professor Jinx can we help you human? Jinx and Toulouse, the two black boy cats who came to the farm when my sister moved home a few years back, always chill on the back porch when they go outside. They go out the back door, they have food and water bowls, two big igloo houses filled with hay, an old futon mattress, and their favorite, a broken recliner. I guess it's kind of a cat paradise back there. Occasionally you will catch one of the girls sneaking around back there, but not often. The kittens, Zae and Roxy, have always made themselves welcome and accepted anywhere they go. I caught Jinx and Toulouse curled up together in the chair this morning, I had to run inside to grab my camera, I just couldn't pass up that shot. Until next time, Angela Kelly

Patches chilling in her crib I posted last week in a post that we set up kitty cages in the house.  I promised some further details, and the time is upon us. First, let me explain to any newcomers about our cat situation. We have six cats. The first two were brought home by me in my multiple, "I need a place to live" moments I went through. When my younger sister divorced she moved back home too, along with her two male cats. The environment was a disaster from the start, two girls already settled in, suddenly two boys (used to being together already) take over the place, it was an intense clash of wills. Two versus two. When we moved home before we went to the farm we had Zaphod with us, which brought us up to five cats. At the farm, we lost Zaphod to the busy highway out front, and were devastated. Several weeks later we adopted two kittens (one was supposed to stay on the farm...) brother and sister, and they have made a home in all our hearts very quickly. Ret...

Our calico cat, Patches, is a strange one. She always seems to be half asleep, or deep in thought. This morning before we left for work (and before she was kicked outside for the nice afternoon, I hope) she was rubbing up against one of Trilli's dog bones. It was hilarious. What a cat. Winter is settling in. I was bundled up this morning to face the 20 degree frost to feed the animals. Even without livestock to care for, the cats and dogs are still time consuming. Things are relatively slow and quiet now, winters cold does seem to have that affect. With the holidays surrounding us it is a time for family and food, projects set on the back burner. Jonathan and I are both working now, meaning farm projects will be the focus very soon. For now, we just enjoy the cold. smoke the barn kitties in training - I'm using a big dog crate for a few hours at a time compost growing the trees had their first pruning the shed (with walls and everything) my cousin Billy did this beautiful wood burnt sign with a magnifying glass Zae has been enjoying his trips outside Roxy is enjoying herself as well, although she is definitely the scaredy one Trilli is busy, the search for hunting season leftovers in full effect Live simply, Angela and Jonathan
