Rose was one of my favorite does from the beginning. Her soft brown fur and warm eyes just sucked me in. She's proved to be an excellent mother as well. One of her kits right now is black with blue eyes, and just precious. Until next time, Angela Kelly

Donna has been a great rabbit so far. She has large litters, and takes care of them well. It is a plus that of all our rabbits, she is the best breed for meat production. There is one little one that has always come to the front of the cage to say hello since it opened it eyes. I hope it's a girl, I would love to use our first baby to expand our colony of does. baby bunnies more babies storm hangin out It was a beautiful early spring weekend!  We got the tiller up and running, pulled the wheels off which need to be replaced.  The front yard has been cleaned of the trash, sticks,  and graveyard of deer bones which always seem to accumulate over the winter.  Loaded the back porch with firewood.  Spent some time enjoying the animals.  The baby bunnies are getting their fur and opening their eyes.  We also made time this weekend to hang out with friends (Amy and Savannah, my favorites, always)  as well as family, Jonathan's mom Penny,  plus both of my grandmothers, which was a special treat for me.  The time always goes by too fast, back to work tomorrow,  but the days are growing longer and longer,  giving us time in the evening to enjoy our little paradise.  Spring is here, everyone! the pretty girls ducky duck ducks the b...

bunbuns love lettuces :)  We had eighteen baby rabbits last week, the first litters of the year. We also had a super wind storm the very day after they were born, which knocked the hutch over, and nearly scared me to death. We were in town and had to rush the hour home to check on them, and amazingly enough, they all survived. We shuffled them around, moved two moms with babies inside the house, secured the rest, prepared for the storm. We made it through okay. It's been almost a week now, and they are starting to get their fur and move around a lot, so we will be moving them back outside very soon. It has been pretty cool having them so close, keeping an eye on them all the time, watching them grow. Raising rabbits is always an adventure, and we are learning more every day. We came home from work this afternoon to eight healthy baby bunnies from our pretty girl Leela. We loaded up her cage with hay to keep them warm, and gave her some extra food. This morning I gave them all the leftover pulp from my juicing last night (a new found love) which they seemed to enjoy, as there was not a bit left this afternoon. I hope that all of the babies make it through the next several days until warmer weather arrives.  The chicks and ducklings are settling in well. The difference is already apparent, the ducks splashing in the water and making a big mess, while the chicks peck their water carefully and spill hardly a drop. I'm glad that we did our homework and decided to go with two separate brooders.  This weekend we finally  have a day to focus on farm projects and the weather is looking nice. We are hoping to finish the frame for the rabbit tractor and start framing the chicken coop. There is also the garden to be tilled and p...
