things you've been missing

It's been a crazy amazing few months! I am thankful to tell you that Jonathan and I are settling into this new chapter of our lives very comfortably. Life gives us so many opportunities, it's scary to take them sometimes, but the risky ones are definitely worth it. We just got back online, so I will try to get back into the rhythm of things, slowly. I have to say it has felt a bit like vacation, not thinking about this space. Not taking pictures, writing, sharing. A part of me misses it, but a pretty big part also likes the feeling of invisibility.  Any-hoo, here's a few of the things you've been missing, which I will try to share in more detail soon; The Wedding: two of our best friends were married on Friday the 13th there was planning, decorating, and shopping trips bachelor and bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners and a bridal shower a whole array of last minute crises and disasters amazing times had by all, tons of photos, food, dancing, and...

a new chapter

Things are changing around here.  I haven't even finished my cob series, but life just keeps getting in the way. Jonathan and I are currently looking for a new place to call home. Sometimes you have to accept that things aren't working, and do something different.  Unfortunately we are going to have to quit our farmers market. We are looking for homes for our animals, and selling off what we can. We will miss everyone so much, but his is a new chapter in our lives. We are excited about finding a place closer to our friends and family, where we can visit and hang out more often. We can't wait to have a house to call our own again, or an apartment, or whatever it may end up being. We haven't had a place all our own since we lived in the studio apartment just after getting back together. I think that was in 2010, whew! It hurts to have to start over, but we are trying not to be discouraged. We have confidence in ourselves and each other, and we're gonna be just fine...

my slacking, and photos of ducks.

duckies swimming on a gross rainy day last week Man, what a week!  I have been so good about posting regularly,  and here we are, seven days since I wrote.  We have just been so busy! It might take us a bit to catch up: -we had lots of baby bunnies -a pretty bad wind storm nearly took out all the bunnies -my grandmother was sick and in the hospital :( -I painted and redecorated the den, my new studio space -all that painting had to flow into the kitchen and hallway, a lot of painting... -we had to take a break to support local music on Saturday night Well, I think that's it, but it's probably not! Look for more details about some of these things this week. ducky duck ducks :) Until next time, Angela Kelly

a confession of laziness...

The past few weeks I have been awful about posting blogs. A combination of other things on my mind, weather frustrations, farm projects and planning; but I stopped today to think and realized just how many times this week I have thought of the events unfolding as if I were dictating them to you. I feel like I have distanced myself from daily writing to the point that it feels an unfamiliar and daunting task to do so. This is supposed to be fun for me, a way to share and express my life and creativity, my journey- more than anything else. Wow- an epiphany. My journey - that's what this place is for. Whatever creativity, adventures, ups, downs, friends, family, daily commitment and spells of absence or uncertainty. It's all part of the journey. But with all that said- I hope this "distant and sporadic" spell is coming to an end. Maybe we will ease back into this with a few of the things you've been missing thanks to my laziness. 1. the seeds for the gar...

bits and pieces

Jonathan's adorable niece Madi I apologize for the absence, I don't even have a very good excuse other than- I just haven't felt like writing. I haven't felt like taking pictures. I don't know that it's laziness as much as feeling like I'm hibernating. The winter is not my favorite time of year. I spend nearly all the daylight hours trapping inside four walls. We get off work just in time to watch the sun drop behind the mountain. I long for warm weather and sunshine. There's only 43 days left until spring, when I'm sure to be complaining about how much work there is to be done. Still, I can't wait. trapped inside snow chores my dad's a character Zae's a snow kitty (Roxy however is much more skeptical.) also, visits with good friends (and shared love for the Pietasters)    and we were the best dressed people at a wedding oh, winter Until next time, Angela Kelly

the quiet

little Billy and Zae - nap time Just a quick hello, in the midst of busy changing life. I am working at Pizza Hut (again, although a different store than before we left) and Jonathan starts next week. We are holding our breath riding the taped together Jeep until we have acceptable income for another car. Thanksgiving is this week, and I am very excited to spend some time with family. I promise to resume more interesting and timely posting very soon! Until next time, Angela Kelly

meet me on the equinox

The change is in the air. The mornings are cold, the afternoons warm but not hot. The first of the leaves are starting to change red and yellow. There's a breeze. Things don't feel so claustrophobic, somehow. It has been a long month, the end of summer commanding so much of our time. We went back to the mountains for a weekend to celebrate the abundance of birthdays in the two months until we will return. We were in desperate need of friends and quality family time. The weekend also lent us many conversations of future farm projects, and sparked a new excitement for returning home. I cannot wait to be on our farm. Oh, speaking of our farm-it has a name now. The Luna Acres Homestead. Until next time, Angela Kelly

when it rains...

it pours. Hello there. It has been nearly a month since my last post, due to quite the series of unforunate events in our lives. Things are looking up and we are enjoying our lives more each day, though coming through these difficult times has been trying. Backing up a few weeks, here's a quick taste of what the universe has been throwing my way (in mostly the right order.) -my grandfather had a stroke (a bad one) -our dearest kitty Zaphod was hit and killed by a car -my grandfather passed away -two flat tires on the way to vacation (not on our vehicle, though) -a blown radiator hose on the Jeep -a total flea infestation of our apartment -a flat tire from a nice chunk of wire -air in our radiator hose (after fixing the broken hose) -and finally, my phone went into a coma. I am very lucky to have Jonathan by my side through all these things, I have been weak and very tempted to quit our internship, run home and hide from the world, but he has held ...

between here and there

Coming back from vacation is always the hardest part, isn't it? Also I think it's awful how nice the weather was at the beach (cool, in the 80s, scattered showers) compared to here (hot, breaking 100 nearly each day, and rain is only a dream.) Aside from the heat, it is good to be back on the farm. I can't say that I've been very positive during our chores and more still during our breaks when there's just no escaping the heat to relax. It had become our routine to get up early (still not early enough), take a long afternoon nap, then go back out to work around 5 or 6 when the sun is finally low enough to breathe. It helps us avoid the direct sunlight for awhile, but it also makes for long days, done working at 7 or 8, with dinner still to be made and desperately needed showers to be had (assuming there's enough water pressure for showers.) I'm sure that is enough of my complaining for one day, and the least I could do is throw in some good words, so you ...

halfway there

Today is (give or take) the halfway point of our internship. That's a pretty big deal! It's been really difficult at times, but it has gone by so fast already. One night last week Jonathan and I sat up late, drinking by a bonfire, talking about the things we already know we will miss. It was a long list. There is constantly so much moving, making noise, eating, drinking, needing some type of attention, that when we go home everything is going to seem still still still. Thankfully, we still have another four months before we have to deal with that transition.  We made it back from the beach late last night. We stayed a little later than intended (the first beautiful sunset of the week graced us with her prescence, how could we walk away from that?) and then took a detour to avoid a wreck on the interstate, but which led us along parkways and unmarked side streets which felt like surely we were lost for good. We got in with just enough energy to make it to the bed and colla...
