our own Mount Everest snow the last week of march, but not enough to get us out of work dangerous - this three car accident had six cops, two ambulances, and a firetruck Snow snow snow. I'm ready for spring already! Just the other day I was writing about spring! Well, what are you gonna do? It was just enough snow to make things interesting, we slid down the hill on the driveway and passed a big wreck on 460 going to work. It was a slow slow day, and thankfully we got to leave a little bit early. We checked on the animals and gave them all more hay since it is supposed to be cold and windy tonight. Some of the new baby rabbits are starting to come out of the nest box. I will take pictures of them soon, some have the cutest brown spots. Now, back to cleaning, prepping for tomorrow, and trying to squeeze in a workout before the night's over.  Until next time, Angela Kelly

Dakota is watching us from the hill. Zae is being a big baby. pretty snow snow snow snow snow ducks :) They are going to love their new pool, as soon as it warms up!  I am very much ready for winter to be over, but I have to admit it's a beautiful snow day.  It's still coming down pretty hard here, who knows how much we will end up with.  I'm glad it came on a Monday, when we were already off work and home for the day.  I have lots of lists and projects inside that need to be worked on, now to decide where to start...   This is the most snow we have seen in years, and it's pretty cool how wide spread the storm was, so many people experiencing it together. This afternoon we mainly relaxed, but made several trips outside to check on the animals, shovel the steps and sidewalks, un-bury the cars, etc. It's a beautiful snow. Roxy didn't like it at all hehe but my babies do snow ducks greenhouse skeleton winter wonderland I'm loving this snow, but I really hope we can make it to town tomorrow evening to celebrate my birthday! We woke up to almost 16 inches of fluffy white snow this morning. The puppies were lunging though it, making trails for us to follow. The animals didn't seem to mind much, as usual. The ducks were eating up the snow and still interested in their water. The deep snow made their water bowl look like an in-ground pool! We took care of everyone, gave them plenty of hay, then shoveled the porch steps and sidewalk, called into work, and retreated back inside to watch round two of the snow which is now in full swing. I hate to miss work because I need the dough (haha) but it is nice to have a five day snow filled vacation for my birthday! welcoming us home Thankfully, we managed to dart out of work around three this afternoon, early enough to make it home, although the roads were quite covered and a little treacherous. The responsibilities that come with farming can be stressful in weather like this. We could easily have stayed in a hotel close to work, but then no one would be here checking to make sure the water isn't frozen, the hay is full, the tarps haven't blown open or off... so much can happen in a storm. But-we are here! Watching, tending, staying warm and doing our best to keep the animals warm as well. It's good to be here. looking at the barn and rabbits from the ducks the ducks just keep on swimming snow snow snow They say we may get over a foot. See you in the morning! This morning, after inspecting the roads and calling into work for another snow day, I found the cutest little golden brown owl stuck inside the duck coop. It was frantically trying to get out of the chicken wire, and intermittently resting on the roost poles. I've never been this close to an owl before. It was amazing. I sat and watched it for nearly an hour. I walked back to the barn to get more hay for the ducks, and when I came back I thought he had flown away. When I reached the other side of the coop I saw that he was inside the dog crate the ducks use, nestled down in the hay like he belonged there. It was the cutest thing. I love this last picture, you can see him sitting on the wood in the corner of the coop watching. I wanted to keep him, but like all wild animals, he is meant to be wild, and flew away. When I woke up at 7 this morning it was still dark outside, but I could see that it was only a dusting on the driveway. Sigh. I fixed a cup of coffee, turned on the little heater in the bathroom, and got ready for work. Twenty minutes later when I came back into the bedroom it was a bit brighter outside, with a lot more snow. It was coming down hard too. We went outside and took care of the animals. The rabbits seem just fine in their new fixed up cages. The ducks, always impervious, swam and splashed about in their water bowl for a solid thirty minutes before retreating to the fresh hay in their crate to warm their feet. Not for long though, I can see them back out there now. Since I moved the fence yesterday I can see them perfectly from my bedroom window. It makes me smile. I'm glad that it snowed enough, early enough, that we could call into work. Snow day! The dogs are a trip to watch in the snow. Playful as ever, they run around kicking it up, eating it o...

Our little farm is quite over run with animals, although most of them not the working farm type. The three dogs take turns guarding the place and sleeping on the couch. They all have their flaws and strengths, but not one of them what most would consider "well trained". We love them all the same, we know it our own fault for not working harder for them. We are blessed with space for them to run relatively free on their own. The yard this time of year is littered with deer legs and bones, the occasional head or spinal cord.
