Local Music: Jackal Tickets

The Jackal Tickets are a Roanoke band we have been supporting and rocking out too for years now. Their punk rock ska mix is the perfect balance for a great dance show, we always have so much fun. I mentioned in a past post that Troy is also special to me and my sister personally, because he was in uniform folding the flag and presenting it to my grandmother at my pawpaw's funeral, which meant so much to my family. Troy- Bass/Vocals - Bottom Right Scott Late- Guitar/Vocals - Top Right Willett- Drums - Top Left Reynolds- Trombone/Vocals - Bottom Left Mike- Saxophone/Vocals - Bottom Left They had a full house at Martin's downtown Saturday night for this show. The dance floor, bar, and tables were all full. The other bands, Fun Size and Monster Atlantic tore up the stage as well, but unfortunately we didn't catch them in the midst of our crazy show hopping! Maybe next time, guys!   We had a g

Local Music: After Action Review

The last local band we saw on Saturday night was After Action Review,  from the star city of course, and they rocked our socks off.   Mike on drums and vocals (side note, he was in the band back at my very first shows)   above left is Justin on guitar below is Steven  rocking the mic  I have to say, of all the bands of the evening, they had the crowd going with the best energy,  despite the bouncers trying at every turn to simmer down the action.  From the start of the show they announced, "no dancing!"  The room sounded with laughter and jeers, jokes about Footloose, and other fun filled rebellion.    we have TC on guitar and vocals on the left to the right is Robbo on bass Four times during their set the bouncer came through the crowd  to stop Amy, my little sister, who was "out

raising rabbits: watch them grow

The baby bunnies are growing quickly! Leela, who only has two, has the quickest growers of the bunch. They are easily twice as big as the other two litters. I love the white and brown spotty ones! Until next time, Angela Kelly

do work

the studio, always changing my new paper shelf i love having my drawing pencils, colored pencils, sharpies, and sketchpads all easy to reach I have been on it this week.  Before and after work I have a list of things to do posted on my cork board, like clean up the kitchen,  bedroom, take out the trash, do the animal chores, get clothes ready for work, pack lunch, stuff like that.  I've also been doing a six move ab workout every day,  along with a great new squat video that I have been doing  with my sister and our friend Savannah,  kind of a pre-weddings get in shape challenge.  It's great having friends to keep you motivated!  The time change has helped tremendously, staying light outside until almost eight o'clock.  On another note, Jonathan and I are now in the process of becoming shift managers at work.  We were discussing ways for Jonathan to get paid more, because he works his butt off,  and it seems like the best option fo

where did spring go?

our own Mount Everest snow the last week of march, but not enough to get us out of work dangerous - this three car accident had six cops, two ambulances, and a firetruck Snow snow snow. I'm ready for spring already! Just the other day I was writing about spring! Well, what are you gonna do? It was just enough snow to make things interesting, we slid down the hill on the driveway and passed a big wreck on 460 going to work. It was a slow slow day, and thankfully we got to leave a little bit early. We checked on the animals and gave them all more hay since it is supposed to be cold and windy tonight. Some of the new baby rabbits are starting to come out of the nest box. I will take pictures of them soon, some have the cutest brown spots. Now, back to cleaning, prepping for tomorrow, and trying to squeeze in a workout before the night's over.  Until next time, Angela Kelly

i can feel spring creeping in

baby bunnies more babies storm hangin out It was a beautiful early spring weekend!  We got the tiller up and running, pulled the wheels off which need to be replaced.  The front yard has been cleaned of the trash, sticks,  and graveyard of deer bones which always seem to accumulate over the winter.  Loaded the back porch with firewood.  Spent some time enjoying the animals.  The baby bunnies are getting their fur and opening their eyes.  We also made time this weekend to hang out with friends (Amy and Savannah, my favorites, always)  as well as family, Jonathan's mom Penny,  plus both of my grandmothers, which was a special treat for me.  The time always goes by too fast, back to work tomorrow,  but the days are growing longer and longer,  giving us time in the evening to enjoy our little paradise.  Spring is here, everyone! the pretty girls ducky duck ducks the boys sunbathing on the back porch  Until next time, An
