little bits of light

Today, as I’m starting to feel like I can breathe again,  I  went to the mailbox and there was a little white bubble wrapped package waiting for me. My heart stopped for a moment. Hand written on the back it says, “handle with love.”   A little bit of light. Just when I needed it.     I can’t remember meeting Kyra , but my strongest memory was going to her house, to pray. I evolved from my youth group upbringings, and there are few people from then or from my school years who I keep up with, even in the typical social media ways. I’m not sure if that’s more a reflection on all those people, or me. Maybe it’s because I’m a Two. Regardless, I always followed Kyra. When she started making art, I felt it. I connected somehow. I was staying in a bedroom of a farmhouse with a stranger (she wouldn’t be a stranger for long... in fact she would change my life, but that’s another story) just after splitting up with my ex-husband when Kyra was posting that she needed ...

budget bride: invitations

Jonathan and I have been planning our April wedding and unlike the average couple (who apparently spend $20,000 on a wedding!) we don't have much money. Okay, that was a little bit of an understatement; we don't have any money. We are both in job transitions, trying to make ends meet, and a lavish wedding just isn't on the agenda. Luckily for us, we've never cared too much about expensive things anyway.  I plan on doing lots of posts in the next few months about our wedding. Today, I wanted to share my invitations with you, which I just finished yesterday! Many brides spend a fortune on expensive stationary, envelopes, invitations, calligraphers, and more. I prefer the simplicity and heartfelt signature of a handmade invitation. Thankfully the guest list is pretty small, and I only had to make about 50 invitations. I went shopping the weekend after Christmas and got some great deals on supplies.  Stores like Michael's and AC Moore offer printabl...

what a weekend

Well, it was my birthday weekend, and I had so much fun relaxing and spending time with my favorites. The weekend began with a lazy night at home with Jonathan, playing games and snuggling. Saturday we enjoyed sleeping in. Then we headed to town to visit my sister, Amy. It was great to get to spend the whole day with her. It led to an unexpected night of cooking and hanging out with my sweetheart and our friend Ethan. We helped fix a delicious dinner of lemon-pepper tilapia, rice, stir-fry vegetables, and garlic bread. The weekend ended with a day spent at home, having an indoor picnic with my sweetheart for lunch, and a steak dinner around the table with my family. Throw in a little craft project (Valentine's Day themed, too!) and it was a great weekend. In addition to a beautiful new, more customized blog design, I have lots of blog ideas for this week. I wish I could figure out how to make pretty buttons for my page links, any help? Enjoy my photo weekend adventure. ...
