supporting local music - a potential series?

the girls before the show We don't go out much, but when we do, it's usually to support local music. When I started gathering this post together, I realized that I really need to start taking photos at the shows . How lame am I? Sharing all this great local music with you, at cool friendly venues, and then just showing you pictures of us getting dressed up? I suck! Well, I have been thinking about it quite a bit, and you can expect to see more posts about local music in the future, more photos of the bands and venues, if I get lucky maybe even some interviews and behind the scenes on some of our local rock stars. We have so much fun going out, but we don't drink much and we are all in great relationships, so most of the usual "party activities" aren't really our thing. Checking out local bands is a great way to get out some pent-up energy and just have some fun. There's always people dancing and being themselves, from punks to hippies to jocks and mo...

raising rabbits: newborns in a wind storm

bunbuns love lettuces :)  We had eighteen baby rabbits last week, the first litters of the year. We also had a super wind storm the very day after they were born, which knocked the hutch over, and nearly scared me to death. We were in town and had to rush the hour home to check on them, and amazingly enough, they all survived. We shuffled them around, moved two moms with babies inside the house, secured the rest, prepared for the storm. We made it through okay. It's been almost a week now, and they are starting to get their fur and move around a lot, so we will be moving them back outside very soon. It has been pretty cool having them so close, keeping an eye on them all the time, watching them grow. Raising rabbits is always an adventure, and we are learning more every day. I sure am enjoying the process, though. the new mommy eating some lettuce newborns more babies - they look like little aliens the rabbits at sunset Until next time, Angela Kelly...

my slacking, and photos of ducks.

duckies swimming on a gross rainy day last week Man, what a week!  I have been so good about posting regularly,  and here we are, seven days since I wrote.  We have just been so busy! It might take us a bit to catch up: -we had lots of baby bunnies -a pretty bad wind storm nearly took out all the bunnies -my grandmother was sick and in the hospital :( -I painted and redecorated the den, my new studio space -all that painting had to flow into the kitchen and hallway, a lot of painting... -we had to take a break to support local music on Saturday night Well, I think that's it, but it's probably not! Look for more details about some of these things this week. ducky duck ducks :) Until next time, Angela Kelly

painting my new studio - before

what a mess I have been going non-stop this weekend. I painted the main room when you enter our home, it was traditionally a living room, open with the kitchen, with a long hallway on one end leading to bedrooms and a bathroom, and a hall with the laundry room on the other side of the room, leading to our bedroom. I painted the space orange and yellow when we first moved back in (that was around 2011.) I liked it then but man it had worn out it's welcome with me. I went with a fresh minty green, its a very light shade, with all white trim.  The pictures don't do it justice, and I still have a lot of work to do setting everything back up.  I think I really like it, though. Before pictures: old windows - what to do with this space.... i have lots of ideas gross yellow walls (notice the old fan...) always a messy painter the other walls were orange / coral, also very ugly You will have to come back to see the after pictures! Until next ti...

duck day

the boys always hide the girls when I come around with the camera my pretty girls Our little flock of ducks are funny to watch. The boys always guard the girls from people, dogs, whatever else might come near them. We need to move their coop and run soon, they have more than sufficiently beaten down this section of garden weeds. I'm excited for spring, probably mid-May, when we can get them some new friends to add to the flock. Until next time, Angela Kelly

the cats of luna acres - jinx and toulouse

Professor Jinx can we help you human? Jinx and Toulouse, the two black boy cats who came to the farm when my sister moved home a few years back, always chill on the back porch when they go outside. They go out the back door, they have food and water bowls, two big igloo houses filled with hay, an old futon mattress, and their favorite, a broken recliner. I guess it's kind of a cat paradise back there. Occasionally you will catch one of the girls sneaking around back there, but not often. The kittens, Zae and Roxy, have always made themselves welcome and accepted anywhere they go. I caught Jinx and Toulouse curled up together in the chair this morning, I had to run inside to grab my camera, I just couldn't pass up that shot. Until next time, Angela Kelly
